Today we had the pleasure of over 200 sixth grade students from Vilonia School District at Weaver Park to test the water quality and macro organism growth in the pond. The preliminary results is that for a two year old pond we show great water quality along with good macro organisms and fish reproduction. We would like to thank John Burden with the Arkansas Game and Fish, Mrs. Steward, Mrs. Kinley, and Dr. Adams with the Vilonia School District for setting up the Stream Team Program.

FMIS 6TH GRADERS TAKE THE CLASSROOM OUTDOORS On Friday, the students in Mrs. Kinley's and Mrs. Steward's Science classes attended class at a local pond. The classes have partnered with the Arkansas Game and Fish Stream Team to explore a wide range of issues regarding the health of their local environment and discover relationships between land and water quality. The students performed hands-on experiments and engaged in scientific investigation. They explored the pond hydrology and biology, tested water quality, and collected data on the physical, chemical, and biological parameters of a local pond. We appreciate Mr. John Burden from the Arkansas Game and Fish for coming out and leading the investigations. The site for this classroom learning took place at the local Weaver Family Park & Community Pond located off Mount Olive. The students present their findings to the school board and city council in the coming months. They will also return to the pond in the spring to collect more data.
