The City of Vilonia was one of eight communities awarded the 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award. City officials will be accepting the award on December 3, 2015 at the Arkansas Municipal League Conference in Springdale. Vilonia benefited from an approximate 4,922 individual activities and projects to improve our community, which contributed approximately 57,000 hours of volunteer work. Over the past 12 months, we have worked to preserve “business as usual” alongside the effort to rebuild, recreate, and redefine our city. After suffering a second devastating tornado in 2014, we have found hope in the ordinary volunteers and leaders who have shared their time, talents, and gifts to help us maintain our “normal” as we strive to become more than we could ever imagine. Our work has helped piece back together individual lives, as well as our entire community.
